Multichoice launched the new DStv 6-series HD decoder on the 2nd of May 2019. This model 6S HD decoder replaces the previous model 5S HD decoder and has the same features and functionality except for the remote control. Gone are the 3 different colours for mode 1, 2 and 3 on the standby button of the 5S remote control. This shouldn’t be a problem in a home with only one decoder, but could be confusing where multiple decoders are used, as in a guest house.
The 6S HD decoder is slimmer and more compact than it’s predecessor and MultiChoice has gone “Green” as the 6S HD decoder is made up of recycled components. Another interesting fact is that all MultiChoice decoders are manufactured locally – Proudly South African – and the HD decoders are put through high-level manufacturing processes and assembly chains.
If you currently own an HD decoder model 4U, 4S or 5S or Explora model 1, 2A or 3A you will not need to replace or upgrade your existing HD decoder and it remains fully compatible with the new model 6S for XtraView installations of up to 3 decoders which can be linked on one subscription, giving you a 3 viewing environment. (Watch 3 different channels in 3 different rooms at the same time)
